Kroger, Safeway, Albertsons, Stop and Shop, Harris Teeter and Fred Meyer give about 10 cents a gallon for every $100 of groceries. It is spent at the chain's own pumps or a partner brand, capped around 35 gallons. PumpWatt counts those cents against the sign and the miles and says whether the partner pump is worth the trip. Publix, the biggest chain in Florida, has no fuel program at all.

You have 30¢ a gallon banked from a $300 grocery month. The partner pump shows $3.49 three miles the other way; the station on your corner shows $3.29. On a 14 gallon fill the banked cents are worth $4.20, the corner's lower sign is worth $2.80, and the six extra miles cost about $0.81. The corner wins by about $-0.59, and the points keep until next month.
Points feel like free money, which is why people drive for them. PumpWatt only counts them where they change the winner.
PumpWatt: free, no sign-up, no card. Some links pay us; that never changes which station wins.
The programs: Kroger and Fred Meyer, 1 point per $1, 100 points is 10¢ a gallon, up to $1 a gallon and 35 gallons, at Kroger pumps and Shell. Safeway and Albertsons, 10¢ per $100, at their pumps and Chevron and Texaco. Stop and Shop, 10¢ per $100, at Shell. Harris Teeter, 10¢ per $100 up to 35 gallons. Hy-Vee, weekly perks on marked items. Kroger and its banners (Fred Meyer, Ralphs, Fry's, King Soopers, Smith's), Safeway and Albertsons, Stop and Shop, Harris Teeter, Hy-Vee. Rates are mostly 10 cents a gallon per $100 spent, with caps around 35 gallons a fill.
No. Publix runs occasional gas card deals in its weekly ad, but there is no points program. In Florida the grocery fuel points are mostly a Harris Teeter question.
Usually at the end of the month after they are earned; Kroger points expire the last day of the following month. Check the chain's own page, they change.
